Occhio! Nasce qualcosa - Techno Seed, l'incubatore d'impresa

Techno Seed is a non-profit Technology Incubator situated in the Science and Technology Park of Udine, with the aim of selecting innovative ideas based on ICT and Telecommunication for the setting up of new enterprises.

  • Companies or company executives and employees wishing to develop an innovative project by setting up a new legal entity (by expansion or spin off)

Techno Seed provides 3 phases

1. Training
It is vital that the potential entrepreneur is trained in management and financial control techniques. For this reason Techno Seed provides short business planning courses where above providing the basic tools for management, the main aim is to familiarize future company founders with the essential concepts and tools required when managing a company. This first stage ends with the initial evaluation and assessment of the business idea described in a preliminary Business Plan.

2. Business Planning
Following acceptance of this initial BP by the Science & Technology Committee, a former incubation phase takes place where a step-by-step assistance is provided to potential entrepreneurs through three so called virtual Laboratories: Technology development Laboratory; Strategic and Planning Laboratory; Pre launch Laboratory.
Each Laboratory, managed by a expertise tutor supports the development of the initial BP into a final BP, in particular through detailed and focused technology analysis (Patenting, Licensing & Copyright, Technology platform assessment, Software analysis), market research, marketing and Sales Strategies, financial planning, Operational analysis, sources of funding.
During this feasibility study, that can last to 12 months, Techno Seed provides the possibility to access to expertises when specific knowledge is not available within the project team competences, in addition funds are available, under certain conditions, for financing the technological implementation and supporting the development stage.

3. Start up and incubation
The aim of this activity is to support start-up businesses during the crucial early stages, in particular Techno Seed incubation is available for the selected startups until 2008.
Following acceptance of the final BP by the Science & Technology Committee and once the new enterprise has been set up, a seed capital financial support of 20.000,00€ is assigned to the startup as well as the possibility to access to office space together with professional and expert business advice within the Science and Technology Park of Udine.
Each Techno Seed start up has access to a pleasant 20sqm office fully equipped in the Udine PST premises.
The work unit is provided with:
  • Office desk
  • Networked computer
  • Broadband ADSL
  • Firewall and virus protection
  • Direct dial phone with voice mail facilities
  • Faxing, printing, and photocopying facilities
Techno Seed tenants can also avail of the conference and meeting rooms for presentations and business meetings.

Short tranining courses on business planning have been carried out in 2005, organized in collaboration with Udine Start Cup. Eleven groups are currently working on the feasibility study of their business idea which has been approved by the Science and Technology Committee. In Febbruary 2006 the first start ups will be selected for incubation in Udine’s Science and Technology Park. In addition a Finance Committee has been set up within Techno Seed project. The Financial Committee is formed by the main Regional Bank Institutions and Regional Finance Companies in order to provide new financing tools fitting the innovative startups needs.
